100th birthday and Diamond 60th, 65th, 70th and 75th Wedding anniversaries

One of the Lord-Lieutenant's important roles is to present messages of congratulations from Her Majesty The Queen to those celebrating their 100th birthdays and special Wedding Anniversaries - as above.

In the first instance, a member of the family should notify Aberdeenshire Council of the impending birthday or anniversary.

In the case of a 100th birthday, The Department of Work and Pensions send a representative to visit the celebrant to seek confirmation of their date of birth. This information is then forwarded to Buckingham Palace.

The same procedure should be followed for couples celebrating their 60th, 65th, 70th and 75th Anniversaries - a relative should contact the Clerk to the Lieutenancy, as above, or Buckingham Palace directly. Arrangements will then be made for an Anniversary card to be sent from The Queen.

In all cases, if the family so wish, the Lord-Lieutenant, or one of his Deputies, on behalf of The Queen, will be delighted to visit the celebrant of the couple on the day.
