The Aberdeenshire Lieutenancy encompasses the historic county of Aberdeenshire, from the Cairngorms to the Buchan coast. The area of the Lieutenancy of Aberdeenshire is highlighted on this map. It should not be (but understandably often is) confused with the modern political county which also includes parts of the historic counties of Banffshire and Kincardineshire, both represented by their own Lord-Lieutenants.

The Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen is its Lord Provost, Councillor David Cameron. The Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire is Andrew Simpson and the Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire is Alastair Macphie.

Our historic county is incredibly beautiful, with its stunning coastline, many castles, spectacular mountains, ancient woodlands, rich farmland and rivers.
